The French Connection | DVD | 1971 | Gene Hackman & Roy Scheider | William Friedkin | New & Sealed

A suspected heroin shipment draws two New York narcotics detectives into an increasingly tense investigation. In The French Connection, Jimmy 'Popeye' Doyle and Buddy 'Cloudy' Russo pursue a smuggling operation through surveillance, street work and relentless pressure, with Doyle's determination pushing the case towards a dangerous confrontation.

Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider lead William Friedkin's 1971 crime thriller, alongside Fernando Rey and Tony Lo Bianco. Based on the real-life investigation documented in Robin Moore's book, the film pairs gritty New York locations with a documentary-style approach and a celebrated car chase. Hackman's uncompromising performance anchors a police drama where obsession is as important as the pursuit itself.
