Much Ado About Nothing (1993) | DVD | 1 Disc | Kenneth Branagh & Emma Thompson | New & Sealed

Wit, romance and deception collide in Much Ado About Nothing, Kenneth Branagh’s 1993 screen adaptation of William Shakespeare’s comedy. Branagh and Emma Thompson play Benedick and Beatrice, whose sharp-tongued exchanges make them unlikely targets for their friends’ matchmaking. Meanwhile, the approaching marriage of Hero and Claudio becomes vulnerable to a very different kind of manipulation.

With an ensemble including Denzel Washington, Kate Beckinsale, Robert Sean Leonard, Keanu Reeves and Brian Blessed, the film balances playful romantic plotting with the damage that suspicion and false appearances can cause. Its lively performances make it an inviting choice both for Shakespeare enthusiasts and viewers discovering the story for the first time.
