Owen Wilson plays Gil Pender, a Hollywood screenwriter who travels to Paris with his fiancée and her family. While wandering the streets of Paris at midnight, Gil mysteriously finds himself transported back to the 1920s, where he encounters legendary writers and artists including Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Gertrude Stein.

As Gil becomes increasingly fascinated by the past, he begins to question his relationship, his ambitions and his desire to live in another era.

The film won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and features a star-studded supporting cast including Michael Sheen, Kathy Bates and Adrien Brody.
