M*A*S*H is Robert Altman's celebrated 1970 black comedy and war film, starring Donald Sutherland, Elliott Gould, Tom Skerritt and Sally Kellerman.

Set during the Korean War, the film follows the irreverent surgeons and medical staff of the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital 4077th. Hawkeye Pierce and Trapper John use humour, pranks and outrageous behaviour to cope with the horrors of life just behind the front lines.

Based on Richard Hooker's novel MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors, the film became a major success and eventually inspired the hugely popular television series.
