Jabberwocky | DVD (1977) | Michael Palin | Directed by Terry Gilliam | Medieval Fantasy Comedy | PG Cert | New & Sealed

Dennis Cooper dreams of making his fortune, but the world beyond his village has other plans. A creature is terrorising the kingdom, and the reluctant young man finds himself caught up in a chaotic quest. Jabberwocky places Michael Palin at the centre of a medieval fantasy where ambition meets a grimy, unpredictable reality.

Terry Gilliam’s 1977 solo directorial debut combines dark fantasy with grotesque comedy and an inventive approach to its medieval world. John Le Mesurier, Warren Mitchell, Max Wall and Annette Badland join Palin in the cast. Although it shares talent with Monty Python, this is a separate Gilliam film, offering a darker variation on the unlikely-hero adventure.
