Hope Floats (1998)

Starting again means returning to the place Birdee Pruitt thought she had left behind. After her marriage unravels in a painfully public way, she takes her young daughter back to her small Texas hometown. Familiar faces and old expectations make the homecoming far from easy, but the possibility of a different future begins to emerge.

Sandra Bullock stars alongside Harry Connick Jr. and Gena Rowlands in Forest Whitaker's romantic drama about family, self-belief and second chances. As Birdee reconnects with her mother and an old friend, the story balances the difficulties of rebuilding a life with the tentative hope of opening her heart again.
