Black Sheep DVD 2007 | Killer Sheep Horror Comedy | Weta Workshop Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson Braindead Dead Alive | New Zealand Cult Film Taika Waititi What We Do in the Shadows | 40 Million Sheep Pissed Off | 15 Cert | New & Sealed

“There are 40 million sheep in New Zealand… and they’re pissed off.” Black Sheep (2007) on DVD. Directed by Jonathan King. When Henry Oldfield returns to his family’s farm, his brother Angus’s genetic experiments have turned the sheep into vicious, bloodthirsty killers. Outrageous practical effects. Dark humour. Pure New Zealand cult horror comedy. 15 cert. 87 minutes. New & sealed.

Creature effects by Weta Workshop — founded by Peter Jackson and Richard Taylor in Wellington — the acclaimed New Zealand effects company behind the creatures of The Lord of the Rings trilogy (Gollum, Shelob, the Balrog, the Uruk-hai), King Kong (2005) and The Hobbit. Black Sheep is widely described as the spiritual successor to Peter Jackson’s own Braindead (released as Dead Alive in the US, 1992) — the goriest horror comedy ever made and the most searched Peter Jackson pre-LOTR film — the most searched Black Sheep comparison. The New Zealand horror comedy lineage: Braindead (1992) → Black Sheep (2007) → What We Do in the Shadows (2014 — Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement — vampire mockumentary — Waititi later directed Thor: Ragnarok and won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit). Icon Film Distribution. Region 2. New & sealed.
