Rampling’s performance is one of the great acts of screen restraint — she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress and won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. Courtenay also won the Silver Bear for Best Actor — both leads winning simultaneously is vanishingly rare. Also starring Geraldine James and Dolly Wells. 91 minutes. 15 cert.
