The Commitments | Original Soundtrack | 1991 Soul & R&B CD | New & Sealed

The Commitments original soundtrack brings the soul and R&B performances of Alan Parker's 1991 film onto CD. Based on Roddy Doyle's novel, the film follows an Irish band's passion for American soul music, and this collection captures that affection through songs such as Mustang Sally, Take Me to the River and In the Midnight Hour.

Andrew Strong's gravelly vocals help give the performances their character, with Niamh Kavanagh also credited on the supplied track list. From the lively opening to the gentler pull of The Dark End of the Street and Try a Little Tenderness, the soundtrack offers an engaging way to revisit the music away from the screen.
